Luminous Medical is developing an Automated Blood Glucose Monitor (ABGM) that addresses the rapidly growing clinical demand for better, safer glycemic control in the intensive care unit (ICU), Operating Room (OR) and Intermediate Care Units. Compelling clinical evidence has demonstrated significant morbidity and mortality benefits from normalizing glucose levels in hyperglycemic patients. As a result, clinicians have rapidly adopted glycemic control procedures but struggle with time consuming and inadequate manual glucose monitoring methods.

The Luminous Medical ABGM is being designed to provide frequent and reliable blood glucose measurements to help caregivers achieve glucose targets safely and effectively while reducing errors and nursing labor. The ABGM is being designed to aid caregivers in realizing the clinical benefits of glycemic control for their patients.

The optical measurement platform is licensed from InLight Solutions, Albuquerque, NM. The technology is protected by a series of issued U.S. patents. A number of additional U.S. applications and international applications have been filed.
